Hello,
I am a student at the University of Southern California where I use the VA GI Bill with the Yellow Ribbon Program to pay for school. Next semester, Fall 2022, I will study abroad at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. This is through USC Marshal’s “International Exchange Program” (https://www.marshall.usc.edu/current-students/international-programs/international-exchange-program). I will be enrolled in over 12 credits, and each course I take will count as a business elective used to satisfy the requirements for my degree at USC. Despite studying abroad at a foreign school, I will still be paying USC tuition and be registered full-time at USC.
The VA certifying office at USC tells me that once I’m registered in classes at Chulalongkorn University, they will send those classes to the VA for approval, which they say is not guaranteed. I am confused about what criteria is used to determine whether or not my classes will be approved. Is anyone aware of what this criteria is?
I’m also curious as to how BAH will work if I am approved. Will I continue to get the BAH for USC, or will it change to the school abroad?
Thank you to anyone who shares their experience or knowledge on the matter.
