I am sorry if this is a common post but if anyone can guide me to any previous discussions that would be awesome.
I have 4 month’s before terminal leave, and I am just confused on how to apply for a claim early. I did get this email:
” If you have between 180 – 90 days left on active duty you may be eligible to participate in the joint VA/DoD Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) Program. This program is designed to give Service members an early start in the disability claims process. We encourage you to find out more by visiting VA’s Pre-Discharge website at http://www.vba.va.gov/predischarge/bddnotice.htm”
So everything is done through the VA correct? I take my medical record there correct? The Navy has nothing to do with this portion of my transition?
For those who left on Sea duty.. my ship is currently deployed, I was able to leave for emergency leave and there is no plan for me to return there until it pulls in. I saw the Doc always putting everything on the computer. Are all the files electronic as in can I just go to any Naval hospital and they will have it?
I appreciate the assistance. I had to do my TGSP course on a CD because of COVID so didn’t get the chance to do a Q/A if they speak about this.
