Each and every veteran has risked it all. . . sadly, some gave all and many others are still risking it all to serve our nation.
They are your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends, and complete strangers – all who signed a piece of paper to, quite literally, put their lives on the line for us.
Some of these veterans experienced things no one should ever experience. . . some of these veterans damaged or lost parts of their mind, body or soul in pursuit of our freedom. . . some of these veterans are running away from pain or experience with drugs or alcohol … and some are running away so hard to escape from their demons that they flee to the streets to escape what is chasing them – and while running down those streets they often run into a dead end.
Feeling stuck, with literally nowhere to go, and not seeing any glimmer of hope, too many of these heroes –who are your relatives, friends or strangers — give up and become one of the 22. And others, the lucky ones, discover the glimmer of hope YOU help give them to return to housing and, more importantly, the real, ongoing help and support they need to face whatever is chasing them.
